KYR also develops and provides deeper educational material for Muslim seniors, caregivers and families who want to better understand Alberta home care and the systems around it.
KYR's educational program addresses areas such as:
- home-care pathways;
- care planning;
- questions seniors, caregivers and families can ask;
- different ways home care may be arranged;
- what to consider when circumstances change; and
- how to better understand the information provided during home-care conversations.
These subjects may be addressed through presentations, educational resources and community-based learning as KYR materials and activities are developed and delivered.
The goal is not to tell you what decision to make.
The goal is to help you become better informed so you can participate more confidently in conversations about care.

Community Care Education Society of Alberta
Knowing Your Rights is a community education initiative focused on helping Muslim seniors, caregivers and families better understand Alberta home care.
We believe people should be able to access understandable information before they are expected to navigate complicated systems, ask important questions or participate in conversations about care.
KYR brings together plain-language education, community experience and Alberta-focused information to make those conversations easier to approach.
Our role is educational.
We do not determine eligibility, prescribe care, make medical decisions, provide legal advice or decide what services a person should receive.
